♥ TheaterArt: "Shakespeare in Hollywood" ♥

Do you remember how exciting watching theatrical plays was during HS and College days?  The sort of Noli Me Tangere, El Filibusterismo, Romeo and Juliet and Glass Menagerie? I DO! 🙂 And I still get the same kind of excitement to this date.

I am simply fascinated how accurately candid theatricals are. Its amazing how fast and full-packed the acts/scenes are. And who would forget the lovely costumes, the loud, clear and character-oriented voices, the exaggerated actions and the creative props! I love ALL OF IT! Everything about theater plays. I have always admire  how the director can be an actor and/or an actor becomes a props-man! Boy, the versatility and flexibility! Another thing is that even if they have a script or acts to follow at the very least, live performances really call for tons of talent and preparations. Also, it’s nice to have some cultural nourishment from time to time, don’t you think so too?

I was really supposed to take-up a course in Films/Theater/Production-or-something like it in U.P. Diliman but since I give high respect and consideration to my mom’s decisions/suggestions (being her youngest girl!), my RAW plan did not prosper.
My last attendance to a stage play was the “Tatlong Maria” performed by Tanghalang Pilipino at CCP Theater. That did not happen again {except for the ballet recital of our baby B} until now that I chanced upon CashCashPinoy’s ad in FB… so today, I happily purchased 2 tickets for the play “Shakespeare in Hollywood” to be performed by Repertory Philippines. I’m really looking forward to have another large dose of a theatrical attraction. It’s time, agree!?

SYNOPSIS –  “A no holds Barred Comedy!”

“It’s 1934, and Shakespeare’s most famous fairies, Oberon and Puck, have magically materialized on the Warner Bros. Hollywood set of Max Reinhardt’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Instantly smitten by the glitz and glamour of show biz, the two are ushered onto the silver screen to play (who else?) themselves. With a little help from a feisty flower, blonde bombshells, movie moguls, and arrogant “asses” are tossed into loopy love triangles, with raucous results. The mischievous magic of moviedom sparkles in this hilarious comic romp.

Commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company, Shakespeare in Hollywood had its world premier in 2003 at Arena Stage and won the Helen Hayes award for Best New Play of the Year.”

It’s actually my first time to buy a voucher like this online! It’s cool and if everything goes well, I’ll be a returning customer for sure. Monday hasn’t been very nice to me. *sad face* But I’m coping and I’m darn trying my best to uplift my dampen spirit. Thanks for a very good steal, I feel a lot better now. Have a good start of the week! All the best for us!
